The BSPC aims at raisingawareness and opinion on issues of current political interest and relevance for theBaltic Sea Region. It promotes and drives various initiatives and efforts to support asustainable environmental, social and economic development of the Baltic SeaRegion. It strives at enhancing the visibility of the Baltic Sea Region and its issues ina wider European context. BSPC now gathers parliamentarians from 11 nationalparliaments, 11 regional parliaments and 5 parliamentary organizations around thewhole Baltic Sea.The BSPC deals with a wide palette of different issues and challenges; against thebackground of our current Working Group the Baltic Sea Parliamentary Conferenceand the assembled Parliaments are especially engaged in promoting health issues,which are of vital importance to the Baltic Sea Region.The Standing Committee of the Baltic Sea Parliamentary Conference, representingelected legislators from the Baltic Sea Region States, assembling in Brussels,Belgium, 22-23 January 2015, expresses its serious concern about the EuropeanCommission DG Regio’s intention to take the policy area “health” out of the EUSBSRAction Plan.| hope you consider our concerns in the process of the review of the Action Plan; |have also informed Commission President Juncker and Commissioner VytenisAndriukaitis, who participated at our January meeting in Brussels, about ourconcerns.Page 2:Please do not hesitate to contact the Secretariat of the Baltic Sea ParliamentaryConference (Mr. Bodo Bahr at bb@bspc.net) should you have any questions.Yours sincerely,lvia Bretschneider
