Baltic Sea Parliamentary Youth Forum 2024Final RecommendationsPresented by:Nagham JaghoubJustina JemeljanovaitėSarah VestergaardStrengthen the resilience ofmaritime critical infrastructureby identifying the mostvulnerable areas throughcomprehensive mapping .This includes joint riskassessments, coordinatedtraining, and real -timeinformation sharing betweenpublic and private sectors forrapid, effective threatresponse.Energy securityThe involved actors shouldenhance the security andresilience of the energyinfrastructure by investingin research anddevelopment of outdatedsystems, together with theprivate sector as well asthe region’s strategicpartners, supplementingthe existing NATOinitiatives.Energy and sustainabilityIn regional energyconsumption, accelerate thefull phase -out of fossil fuels,starting with non -EU sourcessuch as, and especially, theRussian Federation. Allocateresources towardssustainable energy. Rethinkthe regional power grid ,prioritising its modernisationand smart optimisation instorage and distribution.Priorities a just transition byworking together to lowerenergy prices , build trust ininstitutions , and support fragilecommunities . Additionally, it iscrucial to provide strongsupport for those whose jobsmay be at risk due to the greentransition by reskilling them,ensuring that no one is leftbehind as we move toward amore sustainable future.Energy and youth participationIntegrating youth perspectives intoregional energy policy processes:Youth organisations should be given apermanent and supported place indecision -making processes in theBaltic Sea Region .
