What and why?• Hybrid meeting for young people and members ofparliament from the Baltic Sea region• Discussions and seminars on how to secure a demo -cratically and environmentally sustainable future• Sharing of ideas – vital for renewing and innovatingpolicymaking• Promoting youth participation and perspective –through input and insightSweden currently holds the presidency of the Baltic SeaParliamentary Conference (BSPC), which is a forum forpolitical dialogue between members of national and re -gional parliaments from the Baltic Sea region, with thepurpose of raising awareness and opinion on issues ofimportance for the region and supporting various initi -atives that promote a sustainable environmental, socialand economic development in the region. As part ofits presidency, Sweden will be hosting the 31st AnnualConference of the BSPC on 12–14 June 2022.The Baltic Sea Parliamentary Y outh Forum of 2022 willtake place in connection to the Annual Conference of INVITATION TO APPLY FOR THEBaltic Sea Parliamentary Y outh Forum 2022 –Decision-makers of today meet region builders of tomorrowBridging the generational divide to ensure a peaceful and sustainable futurefor the Baltic Sea Regionthe BSPC, in an effort to promote dialogue betweenyoung people of the region and policymakers. Thepurpose is also to capture input from the young gene -ration, which is of great importance in our commonendeavour of ensuring a peaceful future for the BalticSea Region that is environmentally and democraticallysustainable. In light of the vast effects of the COVID-19pandemic and the recent Russian invasion of Ukraine,this mission is especially important – making input fromyoung people and cooperation across our regional bor -ders more valuable than ever.The Y outh Forum’s programme will include an expertpresentation, a networking session, a panel discussion,and a roundtable discussion on how to secure a de -mocratically and environmentally sustainable future.The outcome of the Y outh Forum will be presented atthe BSPC annual conference. The Y outh Forum will becentred around themes that also are high on the BSPCagenda – democracy, climate change and biodiversity –providing an opportunity for input into the BSPC’s fu -ture work, and especially into the work of the workinggroup on climate change and biodiversity.What’s in it for me?An opportunity to:• give your input to policymakers on how to secure apeaceful future that is democratically and environme -ntally sustainable;• acquire a greater knowledge of the issues at hand;• gain insight into international parliamentary coopera -tion;• share knowledge and experiences with others;• networking with youth and decision-makers acrossthe region.Who can apply?Y ou can apply if you are:• between 16–30 years old on the date of the Y outhForum;• based in one of the countries of the Baltic Sea region(Denmark, Estonia, Finland, Germany, Iceland, Latvia,Lithuania, Norway, Poland, Sweden); and• interested in peace, cooperation, climate change, bio -diversity and/or democracy and the Baltic Sea region.When, where and how many?• Saturday, 11 June 2022• Digital or in the Swedish Parliament, Stockholm40–50 young representatives will be selected to parti -cipate. The Y outh Forum will be held in a hybrid formatwhere, if possible due to the COVID-19 pandemic,some of the participants will be invited to participate atthe Swedish Parliament in Stockholm. A digital pre-meeting, where you will be able to meet the other par -ticipants and prepare for the Y outh Forum, will be heldin June. Participation is free of charge.Apply by 12 noon (CET), 24 AprilFill in the application form. In the selection of the finalparticipants, the goal is to create a diverse and innova -tive group. Diversity with regard to geography, age, gen -der, background, fields of interest as well as in the waysin which the candidates are engaged in the issues athand will be taken in to account. The selected applicantswill be notified in the beginning of May.ABOUT THE ORGANISERSThe Swedish delegation to the BSPCHosts of the Y outh Forum. Consists of five membersof the Swedish Parliament.
